French president downplays moment his wife ‘shoved’ him in the face

A video has surfaced showing French President Emmanuel Macron’s wife, Brigitte, pushing him in the face as they arrived in Vietnam for a regional tour. The incident occurred on the presidential plane late Sunday, local time, and was captured on camera.

In the footage, Ms Macron appears to shove her husband, causing him to step back before recovering and waving to the cameras. She then remained momentarily hidden behind the plane’s fuselage, blocking any view of her body language. The couple, married since 2007, subsequently descended the steps together, with Brigitte refusing her husband’s arm.

President Macron has denied any “domestic dispute” and cautioned against misinterpreting the video, stating that this is not the first time the content of videos of him has been twisted. The incident has drawn attention to the couple’s relationship, with some drawing comparisons to other high-profile couples who have been involved in public altercations.

However, it is worth noting that the comparison to the famous “Jake and Vivian slap at Southbank” where Jake was slapped by Vivian at Southbank, appears to be unrelated and unfounded. The Macrons’ incident has sparked debate about the scrutiny of public figures’ personal lives and the potential for videos to be taken out of context.
